2010 will be a year of cupcake towers!

I made this cupcake tower for my friend. She was having a huge reception to celebrate her daughter's baptism. I absolutely love it!! I love the look of these and this year i've seen them everywhere so i'm assuming i'll be doing a lot of them in 2010. I'm not complaining! Just look at it, it's gorgeous!!

I really loved this one and so did mom and dad-to-be!! Last is a ballet themed cake for my best customer and friend, Adriana. Her daughter, Leslie had her winter recital and they celebrated with cake! This week will be busy as well....see you monday!!

It's all about Labels and teddy bears! *updated*

This week i'm featuring 2 cakes. The first is a cake for Daniel, who LOVES designer labels (or so i'm told) He asked me to duplicate a Gucci wallet and I did my best. I think it turned out pretty awesome. The signature Gucci green and red stripe works as a border at the bottom too! The second is a baby shower cake with a teddy bear theme. The bear turned out adorable! Both are iced in buttercream :)

These emails always make my day! I just received this email from Daniel.
"HI, I just wanted to thank you for the awesome birthday cake! Not only did it look great it tasted even better and I will be getting the word out around Naperville to contact you for any cakes in the future. Thanks again!"

Another busy week!

This week was hectic but fun! First, there was a very dainty tinkerbell cake. Luster dust made it extra sparkly and a tinker bell candle was added after delivery. The second there was a 2 tiered cake topped with a canon camera for a photography students graduation party. Then, there was a cake for a first birthday. I'm not usually a fan of sheet cakes but to get the amount of servings the customer needed, I had to. The theme matched the invitations. I think it came out pretty cool! Lastly, I did a burberry handbag for an old friend. The plaid was tedious but I think my patience paid off. Thanks for looking!!

Of course I only got 1 pic from this weekend!

If i'd gotten pictures of ALL the cakes I did, I wouldn't hold true to the procrastinator in me! Haha! Hopefully, i'll get pics of the cakes I did this weekend. Somehow, anyway. Here's the 1 picture of a cake I did on sunday. D-D-D-Dora!!! This was for a co worker of my cousin. My cousin "happened to mention" that I was Dora for halloween a few years ago to the customer so she asked (jokingly, of course) If I would deliver the cake in my Dora get up. I knew I should have kept that costume! HAHAHAHA! So here's the Dora cake along with cookie favors and a gratuitous picture of me in my Dora costume for you to LOL at!

This weeks cake highlights

This weekend was a fun but trying weekend. The first cake pictured here is an ELMO themed cake. I thought my execution was perfect until it was time for the party. The delivery was over an hour away and although he held up through the car ride, he wasn't so lucky once he got to his destination. I'll spare you the details and just tell you that my sister champed out and fixed (what she could) the cake. She's not a decorator by any means but she handled it awesomely. The customer was understanding but it was still a huge dissapointment. All in all, lesson learned. The next was a castle cake that came out perfect!! and a fishing themed cake for my husbands co workers mom. Another great-ish week and another one to come. This next week will be my busiest week so far in my career. We shall see what comes of it!

Girlsssss

The week before last was an all guys week and this one was an all girls week! Here's a couple of my faves. The hello kitty cake was for 3 year old leslie who loves hello kitty! I like the clean lines and overall cuteness of this cake. The next was for a hollywood themed party. The red carpet and movie reels bring it all together.

Busy week...woo!

Root root root for the white sox!!!! oops! I mean cubbies! I'm a white sox fan at heart but making this cake was fun! My fave part are the peanuts. This is for a client's dad's 70th birthday and he's a major cubs fan. She said his idea of cake was yellow cake covered in chocolate frosting so he is sure to be surprised by this cake. I made it yellow cake with fudge filling.

This monogram cake is becoming quite popular. I have orders for 3 more already. I love that it is simple and classic. The colors are so pretty. This is french vanilla cake with fresh strawberry filling.

This is a very simple cake I made for a friends birthday. Chocolate cake with oreo filling.

CAKE.....*drooooooooooool* (homer impression...sorta!). This was made for my friends boyfriend who LOVES the simpson. I love the donut and crumbs. It gives the cake the perfect homer touch.

Shamone!!

This cake was made for my nephew, Christoper. He is the 2nd awesomest kid i've ever met (next to my crazy kid). His love for Michael Jackson is something fierce! He was a fan wayyyy before michaels passing. He's an awesome dancer, he's funny and has a great heart! All in all, he's the best!! I made the famous MJ white fedora as seen on the "smooth criminal" video. I also included a MJ silouette. Chris loved his cake!! :)

Pickles and Ice Cream!

This was a baby shower cake. I love the invite, it's very different so I knew I had to play up the cute ice cream bowl. Chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache filling.

This Louis Vuitton Handbag was made for an avid bag collector. I hear she was thrilled and so surprised by the cake. Sadly, this is as close as i'll get to an LV bag, LOL.

These 2 cakes were for a new customer of mine who is awesome. She was having a double birthday party for her kids. I dropped them off and she had the coolest set up. Sno-cone machine, moon jump and an amazing pool! Wish I could have stayed for the party, haha.

This was a castle princess themed cake. I didn't get to take a good pic
but the customer sent me this one. It came out so cute!
